How
to Choose an Efun Bicycle
All of Efun’s bicycles are capable of folding. They
come in a variety of types for every kind of rider and have
easily adjustable seats and handlebars, which can conform
to almost any human body. An important factor to consider
when choosing a bicycle is the size of the bike when folded.
This is more important for those whose first priority is
transporting the bicycle by bus, car, etc. The smaller the
bicycle, the more compact it folds up. For others, comfort
and style may take precedent over folding size. It all depends
on the individual.
When choosing a bicycle the most important factor to consider
is the type of riding that will be done, which includes
terrain conditions. Choosing the wrong bike for the terrain
will contribute to a bad ride. The types of bikes include
mountain, recumbent, road and all-purpose.
Mountain Bikes
Mountain bikes are used for off-road riding. They are strong
and made to withstand abuse from rocks, dirt, mud, water,
hills, mountains, etc. Mountain bikes have large wheels
(26” or 27”), fat tires with large treads, flat
handlebars and frame suspension. Large wheels and flat handlebars
allow for greater stability while riding over and around
obstacles. Large treads provide a better grip to the terrain.
The suspension mechanism is important to compensate for
the harsh riding conditions. Mountain bikes allow the rider
to have great stability, control and speed that cannot be
found on other bikes, but they do force the body into an
unnatural position. The forward leaning of the body strains
the lower back, shoulders, arms and wrists, which can cause
pain due to inflammation of the muscles, tendons and ligaments.
Arm and wrist pain stem from bearing too much weight. The
forward leaning position forces the arms and wrists to support
the weight of the whole upper body. The more upright the
back is, the less strain and discomfort. Simply adjusting
the height of the seat and handlebars can lessen the stress.
Recumbent
Bikes
Recumbent bikes are more of a comfort bike because they
put the rider in the position of a recliner. The body’s
natural position is upright with a straight back and slight
arch. Keeping the back close to its natural position reduces
pain. Recumbent bikes such as Efun’s C-Rider are designed
to allow a person to ride without pain. The rider is in
a relaxed position with back support and front body pedaling.
The seat supports all the weight, therefore no arm and wrist
strain. In addition to a more relaxed ride, the recumbent
bike helps blood circulation in the legs. They are for persons
who want a pain-free riding experience without giving up
speed. Recumbents take less effort to ride at the same speed
of a standard bike. An added safety feature with recumbent
bikes is a greater visibility range because of the seat
position.
Road Bike
Road bikes are made for riding long distances on the road
or ‘paved terrain’. They are light, have large
narrow wheels, smooth (tread-less) tires and drop handlebars.
All the components of a road bike help the rider to ride
fast and comfortably without exerting too much energy. Large
wheels as mentioned before provide greater stability as
well as good cornering action. Larger wheels hug the road
better when turning a corner or riding on a windy road.
Smooth tires help to reduce the friction between the tire
and the road and therefore reduce the energy used to ride
at high speeds. The dropped handlebar gives the rider multiple
riding positions for those long rides.
All-Purpose
Bikes
All-purpose bikes come in many shapes and sizes and are
not used for one type of riding in particular. All of Efun’s
all-purpose bikes are made differently to accommodate differing
tastes. Choosing the right bike depends on the one who is
going to ride it. Choosing the right bike may include deciding
on the proper size, comfort, gearing and many times aesthetics.
The look of a bike is important to many people and we give
you 18 models to choose from. Efun even has bicycles for
children that not only fold, but also grow with the child.
Efun offers a scooter, called the 'Glider', for those that
prefer it over a bicycle.

Folding
Instructions
Standard
Efun Bicycle
These bike models all fold essentially in the same manner.
Step 1: If your model is equipped with a
quick release mechanism to raise and lower the handlebars,
lower the handlebars first. If there is no such quick
release, proceed to Step 2.
Step 2: Fold the pedals so that they are
in a vertical position parallel to the bike. The pedals on
the newer models have a pull trigger type mechanism inside
the pedal at the side away from the bike. Pull this trigger
and the pedal is released to swing to the vertical position.
Other models have pedals that have push releases to free the
pedal. Detailed instructions for your model are provided in
the shipping carton.
Step 3: Right above the head tube/stem combination,
you will find a quick release folding mechanism that allows
you to flip the handlebars over and place them down beside
the front tire.
Step 4: You will next find a quick release
folding mechanism on the top tube of the bike that allows
you to swivel the front tire and handlebars to the rear beside
the back tire. At this point the front of the bike and the
front tire and handlebars are facing the rear alongside the
back tire.
Step 5: The last step is to use the quick
release under the seat to lower the seat so that the seat
tube sits on the ground and provides some stability to the
folded bike when it is sitting on the ground.
At this point you should be able to pull the bike on the two
wheels (which are tracking parallel) by placing your hand
under the seat front and pulling as you would a wagon.
Recumbent
Efun Bicycle
Step 1: Fold the pedals so that they are
in a vertical position parallel to the bike.
Step 2: Detach the suspension spring from
the fork holding it in place using the quick release.
Step 3: Lift the bicycle up by the seat post
or back support post and fold the rear tire underneath the
bicycle.
Step 4: Lower the saddle and back support.
Step 5: Unlock the folding mechanism on the
frame and fold the bike in half.
Step 6: Lower the handlebars.
Step 7: Right above the head tube/stem combination,
you will find a quick release folding mechanism that allows
you to flip the handlebars over and place them down beside
the front tire.
